Big news for all you soccer lovers! Our very own 17-year-old central defender, Andriy Ketsuk, is about to kick off a new chapter of his life in the United States and will don the jersey of the Viterbo University varsity soccer team in La Crosse, Wisconsin.
Andriy, having just wrapped up his studies in Uzhhorod, is set to further his education and athletic career at Viterbo University, renowned for its robust soccer program designed to nurture athletic talent. This move is aligned with his aspirations of eventually playing for a professional Major League Soccer team.
"I am very excited to join the team and will do my best to have a strong impact on the team in any way possible. I look forward to progressing with the team and the coaching staff"
Ketsuk's journey to becoming a key player and vice-captain of his current team is nothing short of inspirational. Joining Rudy Balazynec's team at the age of 14, he quickly evolved from a bench player to a pivotal figure in the squad. His exceptional performances have not only been crucial on the field but have also caught the attention of scouts on an international level, propelling him into the spotlight.
Andriy has had the privilege of experiencing soccer in the USA firsthand, having participated in the Target USA CUP tournament in Blaine, Minnesota, during the summers of 2022 and 2023. These experiences allowed him to assess the level of soccer development and infrastructure in the US while providing local scouts an opportunity to witness his skills in action.
At Viterbo, Andriy will be part of a diverse and international team, with young players hailing from countries such as Kenya, Peru, Germany, England, and many others. This environment promises not only top-tier training and exposure but also a unique cultural exchange that is essential for personal growth and team dynamics.
This transfer marks a significant milestone for our young team, underscoring our commitment to nurturing young talent and providing them with opportunities to shine on larger stages. It emphasizes our strategy of leveraging soccer networks globally to open doors for our players. Those who demonstrate exceptional skill, intellect, and knowledge of a foreign language within our team have the chance for these amazing opportunities.
Andriy Ketsuk's move to the Viterbo varsity soccer team is not just a personal achievement, but a beacon of hope for other young athletes aspiring to make their mark in the world of professional soccer. As he prepares to embark on this new chapter, the soccer community watches with anticipation, eager to see how this young talent will develop and impact the game in the years to come.
As FC Family of Christ Soccer Academy takes its place in Ukraine, the academy is not just creating soccer players - it is molding future leaders, instilling values, and fostering a community of like-minded individuals dedicated to making a difference.
Join us on this exciting journey as we kick off a new chapter, empowering dreams and shaping lives through the game at FC Family of Christ International.
